WHY THIS PRODUCT

The IGEA Surgical Kit (Box Code: 41530000A) is the complete system of instruments for implant site preparation and insertion of IGEA line implants. It was born from the need to offer the surgeon an autoclavable, ergonomic and step-by-step guided kit, in which each instrument is arranged according to the steps of the surgical protocol.

Autoclavable box in impact-resistant thermo-plastic material, sterilizable in autoclave. The silicone instrument holders ensure secure retention even during transport and sterilization. The inserts are color-coded by implant diameter and the laser-etched symbols allow optimal orientation.

All instruments, including the box, must be cleaned and sterilized before use; for sterilization guidelines consult the instructions for use.

WHO IT’S FOR

The IGEA Surgical Kit is dedicated to dental surgeons and implantologists who work with the Mesa Italia IGEA implant line. It is the operational tool for those performing implant surgical protocols with Narrow (ø3.5) and Regular (ø3.8 / ø4.3 / ø5.0) diameters, ensuring calibrated and repeatable drilling sequences.

Bur for osteotomy to be used to incise the cortical bone and create the entry point for subsequent use of the pilot bur. Speed: 600-800 rpm

D mm Code
2 SST-0031

Pilot Burs

Bur that allows execution of a calibrated osteotomy, creating a minimum diameter hole in the maxilla or mandible, with the support of the depth notches present. For long pilot burs, drill stops are also available. Speed: 600-800 rpm

D mm Type Code
2.0 Short SST-0107
2.0 Long SST-0067

Short Shaped Burs

The shaped bur is a conical bur designed to be used in the final steps of implant site preparation. The markings present on the bur body indicate the depth relative to the bone level. The color code helps the operator associate bur diameters with the implant diameters of the IGEA implant line. Speed: 600-800 rpm

D mm Code
2.9 SST-0076
3.2 SST-0077
3.7 SST-0079
4.4 SST-0081

Long Shaped Burs

Same function as the short ones. The burs can be used in combination with the stops that prevent the surgeon from sinking into the bone beyond the limit indicated by the stop itself. Speed: 600-800 rpm

D mm Code
2.9 SST-0070
3.2 SST-0071
3.7 SST-0073

All instruments are self-washing and made of high-quality medical stainless steel. Available for Narrow (N) and Regular (R).

Dense Burs (Taps) – Medical Stainless Steel

Surgical instrument used to create the threading inside the bone and assist the self-tapping action of the implant. Its function is to prepare the implant site calibrated for insertion of the implant it is intended for. Use is recommended for implant placement in compact bone. Speed: 600 rpm

WARNING: Do not perform a back-and-forth movement, but screw the tap up to the indicated torque. At the end of screwing, reverse the rotation direction and unscrew.

DRILL STOPS – Titanium Grade 23

Drill stops allow limiting the working length of the bur to a predetermined height.

  • They are supplied with laser marking for immediate length identification.
  • Available for long shaped burs and pilot burs.
  • The length indicated on the Stops indicates the drilling depth including the apical addition of the bur equal to 0.3 mm.

IGEA SURGICAL PROTOCOL

The surgical protocol for the Igea implant has been developed to provide surgeons with indications on how to choose the most suitable instruments for implant site preparation depending on the type of bone. However, it is the surgeon’s responsibility to apply the most appropriate protocol based on their own experience.

All burs and taps are made of medical-grade stainless steel. The surgical bur line is complete and easy to use. All MESA IGEA implant diameters share the lanceolate bur and pilot bur; specific shaped burs are then provided based on the implant diameter.

The bur-implant GAP is 0.3 mm.

Features and advantages: Each shaped bur has depth bands highlighted in chromatic contrast and color code for better identification.

Cortical ø5.0 mm
Tap ø5.0 mm
Implant ø5.0 mm
IMPORTANT: the implant platform must be positioned at the level of the bone crest (crestal placement). Do not exceed a tightening torque of 45 Ncm for implants: excessive torque can damage the implant and can cause bone necrosis.

To maintain the desired insertion torque, in dense bone, the use of the tap is recommended, at a maximum speed of 20 rpm and only with the diameter corresponding to the width of the implant bed.

Bur Speeds

For each type of bur, tap and bone profiler, it is recommended to follow the specific indications noted in the relative descriptions. Perform all drilling with a vertical back-and-forth movement accompanied by abundant external irrigation in order to minimize heat production and preserve bone vitality. Do not perform a back-and-forth movement during tapping.

Bur Lifespan

Do not use burs that are damaged, not sharp or for more than 20 applications, in order to reduce risks of overheating or bone trauma that could compromise the osseointegration process.

PRE-PROSTHETIC

Healing screws prepare the site for insertion of the superstructure and “shape” the soft tissue surrounding the implant. The appropriate screw should be chosen based on mucosal thickness.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Which burs to use for the IGEA surgical protocol?
The IGEA protocol provides a sequence of burs: lanceolate bur (to incise the cortical bone and create the entry point), pilot bur (for calibrated osteotomy), short/long shaped burs (for the final steps of implant site preparation, with color code by diameter) and dense burs / taps (to create the threading in the bone, recommended in compact bone). All diameters share lanceolate and pilot; shaped burs vary by implant diameter.
What is the recommended speed for IGEA burs?
The recommended speeds are: 600-800 rpm for shaped burs (short and long), pilot and lanceolate; 600 rpm for taps / dense burs; ≤100 rpm for the bone profiler; 15 rpm (do not exceed 25 rpm) for the motor mounter during implant insertion. Perform all drilling with vertical back-and-forth movement and abundant external irrigation, except during tapping.
How many drill stops are available?
6 drill stop lengths are available in Titanium Grade 23: 6.8 mm (SST-0105), 8.3 mm (SST-0100), 10.3 mm (SST-0101), 11.8 mm (SST-0102), 13.3 mm (SST-0103) and 15.3 mm (SST-0104). They are available for long shaped burs and pilot burs. The length indicated indicates the drilling depth including the apical addition of the bur equal to 0.3 mm.
How to choose the healing screw?
The appropriate healing screw should be chosen based on mucosal thickness. Available heights are H3.5, H5 and H7. For the Narrow line (M1.6 thread): HLS-1300/1304 (H3.5), HLS-1302/1306 (H5), HLS-1308/1310 (H7). For the Regular line in Titanium Grade 23 (M2 thread): HLS-1301/1305/1309 (H3.5), HLS-1303/1307/1311 (H5), HLS-1312/1313/1314 (H7). Premium Healing Screws with non-rotating transmucosal profile (H1.5 and H2.5) are also available.
What is the bur-implant GAP?
The bur-implant GAP is 0.3 mm. This apical addition of the bur is already included in the length indicated on the drill stops, which indicates the drilling depth including the apical addition. The IGEA protocol is developed to provide indications on choosing the most suitable instruments for implant site preparation depending on the type of bone, but it is the surgeon’s responsibility to apply the most appropriate protocol based on their own experience.
