Titanium Grade 4 (CP Titanium)
Commercially pure Titanium Grade 4 for IGEA dental implants · Highest mechanical strength among CP titanium grades
ISO 5832-2
MDR 2017/745
WHAT IT IS
Titanium Grade 4 is commercially pure titanium (CP – Commercially Pure) of the highest grade among the four ASTM F67 / ISO 5832-2 classes. Compared to Grades 1-3, it has the highest interstitial oxygen content, which confers maximum mechanical strength at the expense of reduced ductility.
Mesa Italia uses Titanium Grade 4 for the production of IGEA System dental implants (Narrow, Regular, Short lines), with SLA surface (Sand-blasted, Large-grit, Acid-etched) to optimise osseointegration.
It is the reference material for primary endo-osseous components: it combines excellent biocompatibility, osseointegration, mechanical strength adequate for masticatory loads and a modulus of elasticity lower than steel (reduction of stress shielding).

HANDLING AND SAFETY
Handling: CP titanium is a reactive metal with high oxygen affinity. At room temperature it is passivated by a protective oxide layer (TiO₂) that guarantees biocompatibility and corrosion resistance.
Processing: use dedicated tools (never used for other metals, to avoid contamination with iron or copper that cause galvanic corrosion). Milling with adequate cooling, low cutting speeds, abundant lubrication.
SLA surface: sandblasting + acid etching treatment that creates microroughness favourable to osseointegration. Do not rework the implant surface after treatment.
Safety: titanium powders are pyrotechnic – risk of fire/explosion. Avoid accumulation of fine powders, use ATEX extraction, separate ignition sources. Store in a controlled environment.
Safety data sheet (MSDS): available for powders/chips. The finished implant is a solid article not classified as a hazardous substance.
